make a sudden change in your life and work with foreign people A: Well, as I said, I did spend some time in Canada among non-Japanese people, and I was quite comfortable interacting with them. In my present job, I often meet with foreign visitors, send e-mail overseas, and translate letters and documents. So I think I’ve had a lot of work-related contact with foreign people and companies. I also am active in an international club in Tokyo. We meet often for discussions and outings. But I think one of the main reasons I would like to work with a foreign company is because I think my skills and experience can be very helpful to such a company. I have good English skills, well work experience, and can handle demanding work. I want to use these skills to help a foreign company grow and succeed. E: I see well, look. It all sounds good and all, but I’ve got 10 other people who are interviewing for this position. Why should I choose you over all the others A: As I said, I am very responsible, I can make quick decisions, and I am a self-starter. I don’t need someone telling me what to do every minute. You can trust me 100% to do my best on all the tasks you assign me. I am healthy, I have a lot of energy, and I enjoy work with all kinds of people. Oh, I also don’t panic easily. In emergencies I remain calm. E: Well, there are a lot of emergencies we face daily around here. How do you feel about staying to work overtime when we run into these emergencies A: I have no problem with overtime work. I’m independent and have no responsibilities to anyone else. E: Well, I don’t know. I’m just not sure you’re the right person for the job. But I’ll tell you what I’ll do. I’ll talk it over with my colleagues and get back to you in a few days. That’s all I can promise. A: That sounds fair to me. I really do want the chance to prove myself to you. Thank you for your time, and I’ll wait to hear from you. In the meantime, is there any other information I can provide E: No, I can’t think of any. Just wait for our call. A: All right. Thank you again for your time, and I’ll look forward to hearing from you.
